A good alternative to the pole hedgetrimmer is the STIHL Kombi tool. The STIHL kombi engine unit with the hedgetrimmer attachment (ie km-HL135 ) give the same reach and cutting width as the standard pole hedgetrimmers but the Kombi System has the added advantage of been able to put other attachments onto it like a grass strimmer, blower, pole pruner saw etc....
Its worth a look at before you make your mind up on which machine to purchase.
